Ο απεργός πείνας Χαντζής Αριστοτέλης παρακολουθείται καθημερινά από ομάδα αλληλέγγυων ιατρών. Από τις πρώτες εβδομάδες εμφανίζει διαρκώς επιδεινούμενα επεισόδια ορθοστατικής υπότασης, κακουχίας με κόπωση και ταχυκαρδίας κατά την έγερση, ενώ στα καθημερινά ηλεκτροκαρδιογραφήματα που διενεργούνται διαπιστώνονται εμμένουσες ηλεκτροκαρδιογραφικές αλλοιώσεις που προδιαθέτουν σε θανατηφόρες -ανά πάσα στιγμή- αρρυθμίες.
Βρίσκεται ήδη στην 53η μέρα απεργίας και είναι 50.5 κιλά, έχοντας συνολικά απολέσει το 22,3% του αρχικού του σωματικού βάρους. Από τον αιματολογικό έλεγχο σημειώνεται χαμηλή τιμή ουρίας ορού, υπερουριχαιμία και συμπτωματική υπογλυκαιμία με συνοδές αιμωδίες άνω άκρων, ευρήματα συμβατά με ασιτία.
Ο απεργός πείνας διατρέχει, κάθε 24ωρο που περνά, ολοένα και αυξανόμενο καρδιαγγειακό και μεταβολικό κίνδυνο με αρκετά επικίνδυνες επικείμενες επιπλοκές για τη ζωή.
Τα αίτημά του εκφράζουν τα συλλογικά αιτήματα της κοινότητας.

Hunger striker Aristotelis Chantzis is being monitored daily by a team of solidarian doctors. Early on, he has been experiencing progressively worsening episodes of orthostatic hypotension, weakness with fatigue and tachycardia upon standing, while daily electrocardiograms reveal persistent abnormalities that predispose to potentially fatal arrhythmias.
He is already on the 53rd day of hunger strike and weighs 50.5 kg, having lost a total of 22.3% of his initial body weight. Blood tests reveal low serum urea levels, hyperuricemia, and symptomatic hypoglycemia with accompanying numbness in the upper extremities—findings consistent with starvation.
Every day the hunger striker faces an ever-increasing cardiovascular and metabolic risk with potentially life-threatening complications.His demands reflect the collective demands of the community:

5/4 – ΠΑΝΕΛΛΑΔΙΚΗ ΚΑΙ ΔΙΕΘΝΗ ΗΜΕΡΑ ΔΡΑΣΕΩΝ ΚΑΙ ΚΙΝΗΤΟΠΟΙΗΣΕΩΝ ΑΛΛΗΛΕΓΓΥΗΣ ΜΕ ΤΑ ΠΡΟΣΦΥΓΙΚΑ
Τον Ιούνιο του 2025 η Περιφέρεια Αττικής υπέγραψε, μαζί με το ΥπουργείοΠολιτισμού και τη Δ.ΥΠ.Α. προγραμματική σύμβαση για την ανάπλαση των Προσφυγικών Λ. Αλεξάνδρας, η οποία συνεπάγεται την εκκένωση μιας κοινότητας 400 και πλέον ανθρώπων και τη διάλυση 22 αυτοοργανωμένων δομών αυτάρκειας και κοινής ωφέλειας για την τοπική και όχι μόνο κοινωνία. Μετά από 7 ολόκληρους μήνες, στα μέσα Γενάρη, τα πρώτα δημοσιεύματα ήρθαν στο φως της δημοσιότητας, ανακοινώνοντας την υπογραφή της προγραμματικής αυτής σύμβασης με την προκήρυξη του διαγωνισμού σε ανάδοχο εταιρεία να έχει χρονοδιάγραμμα εντός του πρώτου τριμήνου του ‘26. Όπως, επίσης και την προαναγγελία με ρητό και ξεκάθαρο τρόπο της επιχείρησης καταστολής και εκκένωσης με ευθύνη του Υπουργείου Προστασίας του Πολίτη.
Ως Κοινότητα Κατειλημμένων Προσφυγικών δηλώσαμε από την πρώτη στιγμή τηνπροϋπάρχουσα απόφασή μας να υπερασπιστούμε το απελευθερωμένο έδαφος των Προσφυγικών και την αυτοοργανωμένη κοινότητα που χτίζεται εντός του. Σε αυτό το πλαίσιο υπεράσπισης της Κοινότητας μέχρι τέλους, μετά από συλλογική απόφαση, το μέλος της Κοινότητας και κάτοικος των Προσφυγικών Αριστοτέλης Χαντζής πήρε την πρωτοβουλία την 5η Φλεβάρη ‘26 να ξεκινήσει απεργία πείνας μέχρι θανάτου, για την υπεράσπιση της ζωής, σηκώνοντας οδόφραγμα αντίστασης απέναντι στους κρατικούς σχεδιασμούς.
Εκ των αρμόδιων θεσμών που αποτελούν κομμάτια της προγραμματικήςσύμβασης του “έργου των Προσφυγικών”, οι πρόσφατες δηλώσεις του Περιφερειάρχη Αττικής, Νίκου Χαρδαλιά – έπειτα από σχετικές ερωτήσεις της περιφερειακής συμβούλου Ιωάννας Καραδήμα, του Εθνικού Μετώπου, σε ειδική απολογιστική διαδικασία της Περιφέρειας στις 18/3/26, αποκαλύπτουν την τρέχουσα κατάσταση: Το “έργο των Προσφυγικών” βρίσκεται στο στάδιο ολοκλήρωσης των διοικητικών και τεχνικών διαδικασιών για την προκήρυξη του διαγωνισμού δημοπρασίας της μισής γειτονιάς (4 πρώτα μπλοκ), η οποία θα ξεκινήσει άμεσα του επόμενους μήνες.
Η ανάπλαση των Προσφυγικών είναι μέρος του ευρύτερου σχεδίουαναδιαμόρφωσης του κέντρου της Αθήνας, των περιοχών Γκυζίου, Αμπελοκήπων μετατρέποντάς τες σε περιοχές για ακριβά πορτοφόλια. Φυσικά, μπροστά στο μέγεθος της «μπίζνας» ούτε λόγος, από τον περιφερειάρχη Νίκο Χαρδαλιά, τον δήμαρχο Χάρη Δούκα και την κυβέρνηση Μητσοτάκη για τις τόσες ζωές που θα βρεθούν στον δρόμο, αλλά ούτε και για την την από 5/2 απεργία πείνας μέχρι θανάτου, του μέλους της Κοινότητας.
Η μεθοδευμένη αποσιώπηση του ζητήματος, από τους αρμόδιους φορείς και τα κεντρικά ΜΜΕ στοχεύει στη φυσική εξόντωση του απεργού πείνας, που σύμφωνα με τα λεγόμενα της ιατρικής ομάδας που τον παρακολουθεί, η κατάσταση της υγείας του επιδεινώνεται μέρα με τη μέρα λόγω της παρατεταμένης νηστείας και διατρέχει, κάθε 24ωρο που περνά, ολοένα και αυξανόμενο καρδιαγγειακό και μεταβολικό κίνδυνο με επικίνδυνες επικείμενες επιπλοκές για τη ζωή του. Παράλληλα, επιχειρούν να αποκρύψουν από την ελλαδική κοινωνία το κοινωνικό έργο που συντελείται στα Προσφυγικά, ένα παράδειγμα κοινοτικής ζωής, αυτονομίας, αυτοθέσμισης και αυτοδιαχείρισης, που καλύπτει κοινωνικές ανάγκες κι επιλύει προβλήματα που το ίδιο το πολιτικό – οικονομικό σύστημα του κράτους και του καπιταλισμού έχουν δημιουργήσει.
Ύστερα από δύο διαδοχικές παρεμβάσεις σε συμβούλια της ΠεριφέρειαςΑττικής και πλήθος δημοσιευμάτων, οι αρμόδιοι φορείς είναι πλήρως ενημερωμένοι για τη συνολική κατάσταση που επικρατεί στα Προσφυγικά όπως και για την απεργία πείνας, και δεν υπάρχουν δικαιολογίες «δεν ήξερα», «δεν γνώριζα». Οπότε, φέρουν ακέραια την ευθύνη για ό,τι συμβεί στην υγεία του απεργού πείνας, αλλά και των ευπαθών κοινωνικών ομάδων που ζουν στα Προσφυγικά, καθώς μια πιθανή εκκένωση θα έχει ανυπολόγιστες συνέπειες για τις ζωές τους.
Ο πρώτος κύκλος του αγώνα υπεράσπισης των Προσφυγικών έχει κλείσει θετικά με χαρακτηριστικό το αποτύπωμα που άφησε στον δρόμο η 1η πορεία αλληλεγγύης στις 14/3. Συμπεριέλαβε μια σειρά παρεμβάσεων, εκδηλώσεων, συνελεύσεων, δηλώσεων, δράσεων αλληλεγγύης στον ελλαδικό χώρο και διεθνώς. Η μεγάλης κλίμακας αλληλεγγύη αποτυπώνεται και από την τεράστια πλαισίωση της γειτονιάς και της Κοινότητας Κατειλημμένων Προσφυγικών σε καθημερινή βάση από εκατοντάδες αλληλέγγυου κόσμου που συμμετέχει στα κάθε είδους πολιτικά και πολιτιστικά δρώμενα τα οποία πραγματοποιούνται όλο αυτό το διάστημα των σχεδόν δύο μηνών.
Μπροστά στον κίνδυνο που διατρέχει η υγεία του απεργού πείνας, η Κοινότητα των Κατειλημμένων Προσφυγικών έχει πάρει την απόφαση να κλιμακώσει τον αγώνα, ενώ παράλληλα έχει ανακοινώσει προς πάσα κατεύθυνση ότι και άλλα μέλη της θα ξεκινήσουν απεργία πείνας μέχρι θανάτου.
Στο πλαίσιο όλων των παραπάνω, καλούμε σε κεντρική πορεία αλληλεγγύης με τα Προσφυγικά, στις 5/4 και ώρα 13.00 στα Προπύλαια, ως ένα ακόμη βήμα προς την κορύφωση του αγώνα, δηλώνοντας ξεκάθαρα σε κράτος και κεφάλαιο τη δύναμη που πηγάζει μέσα από την ενότητα και την μαζικότητα του κινήματος της αλληλεγγύης.
Ταυτόχρονα, στις 5/4, καλούμε σε πανελλαδική και διεθνή ημέρα κινητοποιήσεων και δράσεων αλληλεγγύης και υπεράσπισης της Κοινότητας Κατειλημμένων Προσφυγικών, ώστε να απλωθεί και να διαδοθεί ακόμα πιο διευρυμένα το κύμα αλληλεγγύης και συμπαράστασης με τον αγώνα της Κοινότητας και της απεργίας πείνας του συντρόφου μας Αριστοτέλη Χαντζή.
Να σπάσουμε την σιωπή που επιχειρείται να επιβληθεί, δίνοντας ένα δεύτερο ηχηρό και μαζικό μήνυμα αντίστασης των κοινωνικών δυνάμεων στον δρόμο.

CALL FOR A CENTRAL DEMONSTRATION OF SOLIDARITY AND DEFENSEOF THE COMMUNITY OF SQUATTED PROSFYGIKA

April 5 – Panhellenic and International Day of Action and Mobilization in Solidarity with Prosfygika
In June 2025, the Region of Attica, together with the Ministry of Culture and the Public Employment Service (DYPA), a programmatic agreement for the redevelopment of Prosfygika of Alexandras Av., which entails the eviction of a community of over 400 people and the dismantling of 22 self-organized structures providing for self-sufficiency and public benefit of the local community and beyond. After seven full months, in mid-January, the first reports came to light, announcing the signing of this programmatic contract with the call for bids to a contractor to be completed within the first quarter of 2026. This also included the explicit and clear announcement of the suppression and eviction operation under the responsibility of the Ministry of Protection of the Citizen.
As the Community of Squatted Prosfygika, we declared from the very beginning our pre-existing decision to defend the liberated territory of Prosfygika and the self-organized community being built within it. In this context of defending the Community to the end, following a collective decision, Aristotelis Chantzis, a member of the Community and resident of Prosfygika, took the initiative on February 5, ‘26 to begin a hunger strike to the death in defense of life, erecting a barricade of resistance against the state’s plans.
Among the relevant institutions that are part of the programmatic agreement for the “Project of Prosfygika,” the recent statements by the Regional Governor of Attica, Nikos Chardalias—following relevant questions from Regional Councilor Ioanna Karadima of the National Front during a special review session of the Region on March 18, 2026—reveal the current situation: The “Project of Prosfygika” is in the final stages of completing the administrative and technical procedures for the auction of half the neighborhood (the first 4 blocks), which will begin immediately in the coming months.
The redevelopment of Prosfygika is part of a broader plan to reshape the center of Athens, including the areas of Gyzi and Ambelokipi, transforming them into neighborhoods for the wealthy. Of course, given the scale of the “business,” there is not a word from Regional Governor Nikos Chardalias, Mayor Haris Doukas, or the Mitsotakis government regarding the countless lives that will end up on the streets, nor about the hunger strike to the death that began on February 5 by a member of the Community.
The deliberate silence surrounding this issue, on the part of the relevant authorities and the mainstream media, is aimed at the physical extermination of the hunger striker, whose health, according to the medical team monitoring him, his health is deteriorating day by day due to prolonged fasting, and with every passing 24 hours, he faces an ever-increasing cardiovascular and metabolic risk with dangerous, life-threatening complications looming. At the same time, they are attempting to conceal from Greek society the social work being carried out in the refugee camps—an example of community life, autonomy, self-determination, and self-management, which meets social needs and resolves problems created by the very political-economic system of the state and capitalism.
Following two consecutive interventions at meetings of the Attica Regional Council and numerous media reports, the relevant authorities are fully informed about the overall situation in Prosfygika as well as the hunger strike, and there are no excuses such as “I didn’t know” or “I wasn’t aware.” Therefore, they bear full responsibility for whatever happens to the health of the hunger striker, as well as to the vulnerable social groups living in Prosfygika, since a potential eviction would have incalculable consequences for their lives.
The first phase of the campaign to defend the refugee camps has concluded on a positive note, marked by the impact of the first solidarity march on March 14. It included a series of interventions, events, assemblies, statements, and solidarity actions throughout Greece and internationally. This large-scale solidarity is also reflected in the massive support that the neighborhood and the Community of Squatted Prosfygika receive on a daily basis from hundreds of people in solidarity who participate in all kinds of political and cultural events taking place this entire period of nearly two months.
Faced with the danger to the health of the hunger striker, the Community of Squatted Prosfygika has decided to escalate the struggle, while simultaneously announcing to everyone that other members will also begin a hunger strike until death.
In light of all the above, we are calling for a central solidarity demonstration to Prosfygika, on April 5 at 1:00 PM at the Propylaea, as another step toward the culmination of the struggle, clearly demonstrating to the state and capital the power that springs from the unity and mass mobilization of the solidarity movement.
At the same time, on April 5, we are calling for a nationwide and international day of mobilization and actions of solidarity and defense of the Community of Squatted Prosfygika, so that the wave of solidarity and support for the Community’s struggle and the hunger strike of our comrade Aristotelis Chantzis may spread even further.
Let us break the silence they are trying to impose, sending a second resounding and massive message of resistance from the social forces in the streets.

ΣΥΓΚΕΝΤΡΩΣΗ Δευτέρα, 30 Μαρτίου στις 14:30 στο Πολιτιστικό κέντρο ΚΑΜΙΝΙ- Ρεθύμνης και Χρήστου Καψάλη 36, Γαλάτσι εν όψει της συνεδρίασης του Περιφερειακού συμβουλίου
ΣΥΓΚΕΝΤΡΩΣΗ Τετάρτη, 1 Απρίλη, στις 14:30 στο Δημαρχείο Αθήνας, Αθηνάς 63, εν όψει της συνεδρίασης του Δημοτικού συμβουλίου
Περιφέρεια και Δήμος Αθηναίων συντάσσονται πλήρως με τα επιχειρηματικά και κυβερνητικά συμφέροντα και φέρουν ακέραια την πολιτική ευθύνη για τις ζωές 400 και πλέον ανθρώπων, καθώς και για τη ζωή του συντρόφου μας Αριστοτέλη Χαντζή, απεργού πείνας μέχρι θανάτου, από τις 5/2 του οποίου η υγεία επιδεινώνεται καθημερινά. Την ίδια στιγμή οι υπόλοιποι αρμόδιοι φορείς είτε στηρίζοντας ευθέως, είτε διατηρώντας “ουδετερότητα” στην ουσία προμοτάρουν τα λεηλατικά πλάνα μέσω της αντικοινωνικής πολιτικής που σκοπό έχουν την επίθεση στο μεγαλύτερο κοινωνικό εγχείρημα της Ευρώπης με 16 χρόνια ιστορίας και 22 αυτοοργανωμένες δομές κοινωνικής ωφέλειας.Στην πραγματικότητα σχεδιάζουν το πλάνο καταστολής, την εκκένωση της γειτονιάς και την εκδίωξη 400 και πλέον ανθρώπων μεταξύ των οποίων και 50 παιδιά.
Ως Κοινότητα Κατειλημμένων Προσφυγικών στεκόμαστε με αποφασιστικότητα και δηλώνουμε ξεκάθαρα ότι δεν πρόκειται να κάνουμε ούτε βήμα πίσω απέναντι σε οποιονδήποτε επιχειρεί ή θα επιχειρήσει να υπονομεύσει και να διαλύσει το αυτοοργανωμένο κοινωνικό και πολιτικό εγχείρημα που οικοδομούμε εδώ και 16 χρόνια στην καρδιά της Μητρόπολης.
Πρόκειται για ένα ζωντανό παράδειγμα συλλογικής ζωής, αυτονομίας και αυτοδιαχείρισης, που δεν γεννήθηκε θεωρητικά, αλλά μέσα από πραγματικές κοινωνικές ανάγκες. Ένα εγχείρημα που συνεχίζει να απαντά έμπρακτα στα διαχρονικά προβλήματα του καπιταλισμού, αποδεικνύοντας ότι υπάρχουν κοινωνικοί τρόποι οργάνωσης, αλληλεγγύης και αξιοπρέπειας και αυτοί δεν πρόκειται να εγκαταλειφθούν ή να παραδοθούν.
Την ημέρα των συμβουλίων, θα βρισκόμαστε ήδη στην 54η και 56η αντίστοιχα, της ημέρα απεργίας πείνας του συντρόφου μας Αριστοτέλη Χαντζή που εκφράζει τα συλλογικά αιτήματα της Κοινότητας.
Απαιτούμε την άμεση τοποθέτηση της Περιφέρειας Αττικής, του Δήμου Αθηναίων και όλων των αρμόδιων φορέων, επί των αιτημάτων που έχουμε καταθέσει και υπερασπιζόμαστε με κάθε τρόπο.
Τα αιτήματα της Κοινότητας, που εκφράζονται μέσα και από την απεργία πείνας, είναι:

[ENG] CALL FOR RALLIES IN THE ATTICA REGION AND THE MUNICIPALITY OF ATHENS
GATHERING on Monday, March 30, at 14:30 at KAMINI Cultural Center—Rethymnis and Christou Kapsali 36, Galatsi—ahead of the Regional Council meeting
GATHERING on Wednesday, April 1, at 14:30, at Athens City Hall, 63 Athinas Street, ahead of the City Council meeting
The Region and the Municipality of Athens are fully aligned with business and government interests and bear full political responsibility for the lives of more than 400 people, as well as for the life of our comrade Aristotelis Chantzis, who has been on a hunger strike to the death since February 5, and whose health is deteriorating daily. At the same time, the other relevant authorities, either by directly supporting or by maintaining “neutrality,” are in essence promoting predatory plans through anti-social policies aimed at attacking Europe’s largest social project, with 16 years of history and 22 self-organized social welfare structures. In reality, they are planning a crackdown, the evacuation of the neighborhood, and the eviction of over 400 people, including 50 children.
As the Community of Squatted Prosfygika, we stand firm and declare unequivocally that we will not take a single step back against anyone who attempts or will attempt to undermine and dismantle the self-organized social and political project we have been building for the past 16 years in the heart of the metropolis.
This is a living example of collective life, autonomy, and self-management, born not of theory but of real social needs. An endeavor that continues to respond in practice to the timeless problems of capitalism, proving that there are social ways of organization, solidarity, and dignity, and that these will not be abandoned or surrendered.
On the day of the councils, we will already be on the 54th and 56th days, respectively, of the hunger strike by our comrade Aristotelis Hantzis, who is expressing the collective demands of the Community.
We demand an immediate response from the Region of Attica, the Municipality of Athens, and all relevant authorities regarding the demands we have submitted and are defending by every means.
The demands of the Community which are also expressing throught the Hunger Strike, are:
MMEDIATE CANCELLATION OF THE CONTRACT BY THE REGION OF ATTICA
ALL RESIDENTS OF PROSFYGIKA TO REMAIN IN THEIR HOMES, IN THE PLACE AND AREA WHERE THEY LIVE AND HAVE ESTABLISHED SOCIAL, CULTURAL, AND ORGANICALT TIES
